It follows a young couple whose deep romantic bond is shattered when wealthy societal expectations and parental disapproval force them apart.

The story of the film revolves around two sisters; Shabana and Farzana (Babra Sharif in a double role). They are identical twins who have very different personalities. Farzana is a shy and innocent girl, whereas her sister, Shabana, has a lively and confident personality. Farzana works as a secretary to the wealthy playboy, Akhter (Shahid). He lusts after Farzana, but is unable to seduce her. He finally manages to trap her by promising marriage. A secret marriage takes place between them, attended only by Akhter's closest aides and a dubious maulvi. After consummating the marriage, Akhter informs a stunned Farzana of his true intentions. Fateh Muhammad, aka Fattu, aspired to be a Pakistani cinema superstar but was rejected from every studio in Lahore due to his ineptitude. Meanwhile, his doppelganger, Jani, a thief, wanted to quit his life of crime after becoming a police suspect. R Bukhari discovered Fattu and hatched a plan to deceive the police and the world by turning Jani into a superstar, using Fattu as a front. As Jani continued his thieving ways, the question remains: will the police uncover the con, or will Bukhari and Jani keep swindling people?
