A group of former high school classmates reunite after seventeen years for the funeral of an old friend. Aided by alcohol and a forgotten video, they sneak into their old school one night to relive the magic of that time. But a simple reunion quickly turns into a criminal adventure.

Ernesto is a teenager who wanders, in search of himself, through the streets of Rome. Chapter after chapter, time passes and people just disappear but he continues to live impromptu relationships, causing pain to himself and to others. Taking refuge in his happy moments and in political ideologies, he believes he can save his soul from suffering although life will force him to grow and move forward.

"My Second Time" is a movie about the importance of choices. Every day, as we live, we face crossroads, more or less visible, that force us to choose: enter or exit, "yes" or "no." It's part of everyone's daily life. There are difficult choices, those that require attention, reflection, and time. And there are easy, immediate ones, which we respond to almost without thinking because "we like it." Choices of the mind and choices of the gut, we might say. Yet the common denominator of choices, whether easy or difficult, is the uncertainty of the outcome.

Francesco and Eloisa, through old photographs, reconstruct the story of Maša and Gianlorenzo, their grandparents. She, an exile from the Prague countryside, and he, a wealthy Roman intellectual working at the Italian Embassy in Prague. The two fell in love shortly before the Russians occupied Czechoslovakia in 1968. Thanks to Gianlorenzo's connections, Maša became the first Czech woman to obtain permission from the Communist Party to marry a foreigner and thus obtain Italian citizenship. The situation continued to worsen, and the rules became suffocating. They decided to leave Maša's family and move to Italy with their three children. There, Maša entered the world of the Roman upper middle class, conservative and often judgmental. Her fourth child was born. Something inside her broke. All her choices, from that moment on, were guided by an uncontrollable need for freedom. A freedom that a totalitarian government would strip from you and never give back.
