At Strašperk Castle, the royal budget is being improved by spooky tours instead of raising taxes. These are directed by the resourceful princess Elvíra. Prince Armin arrives at Strašperk, eager to see a magical creature to prove to his royal father that they really exist. As a little boy, he met a witch in the forest, but his father never believed him. Soon, an unexpected event occurs at Strašperk - during the celebration of the king's birthday, the musicians disappear without a trace, then some servants, and finally the king himself. Panic breaks out in the castle. Elvíra and Armin set out to follow the trail of this mystery. It turns out that things are often not what they seem at first glance. While Kendy returns to his hometown as an assistant director to film a thirteen-part series with a television crew, Štěpán Šafránek, equipped with his mother's advice after graduation, takes up his first position - as an intern at the local hospital. However, his inadaptability to local conditions and his sense of ethics in his chosen profession do not suit his other established colleagues. While they are amused by his zeal and responsibility, Štěpán has increasing problems with his superiors, until he is finally transferred to the position of rural district doctor, which everyone rejects. In Bezdíkov, however, he meets a new, perhaps permanent and reciprocated love, with whom he eventually decides to live and work in northern Bohemia.

It is with these words that the tale of this film begins, whose narrative is based upon the the play by František Hrubín of the same name.

In the comedy-oriented story, the computer is an important actor, around which all the events actually revolve. It is reliable, powerful, but unused.
