Hamda, a widow whose husband had left her somewhere, struggled to support herself and her only daughter, Fatimah. The life of the mother and child is marginalized by other villagers, because Hamda works as a prostitute. Hamda is often cornered into a completely wrong position at the request of his son: the Holy Qur'an, mukena, prayer rugs, and Islamic religious textbooks.

After his wife dies and he loses his business, a tailor takes on variety of jobs to provide a future for his son and create a new life for himself.

Tri (Ray Sahetapy) is a successful entrepreneur with his advertising company, Bamboom, but also a failed father. His sons Aris (Pandji Pragiwaksono) and Rachmat (David Saragih) grow up as spoiled and arrogant young men. One day following a strife between Aris and a client of his, Tri contrives a plot to fake his death and bequeathe his wealth to a scavenger he meets on the street, Odi (Ence Bagus). But the plan doesn’t go well. In fact Tri really dies. In the blink of an eye his death turns Aris and Rachmat’s lives upside down. According to their father’s will, they have no right whatsoever to claim their father’s assets. They suddenly are impoverished while Odi made rich. Not only losing wealth, Aris also loses his girlfriend, Imelda (Tara Basro). He and Rachmat, who never get along before, must now join forces to find their mother, Asri (Ratna Riantiarno), who apparently still lives, and in affluence too.

Mentari, an orphan, devotes his life to his paralyzed mother. They live in a house on stilts in the interior far from the hustle and bustle of the city called Kurau Village. This fisherman's son since childhood was left behind by his father. Mentari earn a living for their survival.

Anna, Tasya, Hanny, Bella, Ergi, Ferdy and Vander are good friends in a friend group named "Bomb Fire". Their namesake is because they like to make explosions and fireworks. During Anna's birthday, they plan to make a festive firework explosion. However, unexpectedly an explosion was bigger than planned, resulting in a death of a fellow "Bomb Fire" member.

Rianti and Ajie are two young lovers, whose parents disapprove of their relationship. Rianti finds solace with a preacher, Guru Samir. In the process of trying to reconcile with Rianti, Ajie begins to suspect that Guru Samir is a false prophet.

Imah's boss Danapati rapes her. She tries to hide the fact from her husband Imah, but soon strange things start to happen as people are found dead with holes in their backs. People believe it is the work of the ghost Sundel Bolong.
