Facts is a dramatization of a massacre in a Lithuanian village during World War II when Nazis rounded up over 100 men, women, and children accused of partisan activity and then torched the houses in which they were held. Using Russian interrogations of a few survivors, the testimony of villagers, and some of the Germans responsible for the killing, the film gradually reconstructs the event and its context.

Alfrēds Turlavs is a successful engineer at a communications technology factory in Riga, but his comfortable life has grown emotionally distant. His marriage to Līvija has lost its warmth, while their daughter Vita has grown up and started a family of her own. Just when Turlavs seems settled into a predictable routine, a new love enters his life: his colleague Maija.

A group of friends from Riga trade their planned holiday in Dombai mountain range in Russia for an adventurous trip to the Arctic. Caught up in the excitement, they ignore a travel agent’s warning about the dangers of skiing into the tundra. When a sudden blizzard strikes, Imants becomes separated from the group.

During their summer placement at a collective farm, students from an agricultural academy are called upon to help with the most urgent work. When heavy rains threaten the harvest, the young people put aside their usual routines and join the farm workers in a race against the weather to save the crops.
