When fear no longer exists, Bobby is here to provide you with some primal instinct. In a our real world, which is always in turmoil, we take drugs to gain relief and peace. But in this fictional world of total peace, we take drugs to experience turmoil, so we can be more human again.

Four loosely connected stories tell of the here and now, where human trafficking, the vagaries of people smugglers, violence against women, restrictive immigration laws, gambling addiction, debt and business deals of all kinds are the order of the day.

Paul and Bernd take over a small upscale antique store together. On one nightly excursion, Bernd introduces Paul and Lisa with each other. What was intended as a little variety to marriage-like everyday life develops into a great romance accompanied by a threat: If Eva hears about the affair, the financing for the shop will be in danger. Slowly but surely, Paul is ready to give up everything for Lisa: the shop, Eva and especially the loan. Bernd knows that Dragan is his only hope.

Berlin, A Polterabend (i.e. a party on the eve of a marriage) is taking place in a café. An American has persuaded his German friend to marry him, after just one month of knowing each other. But while Anke has decided to create a family for her and her baby, Bruce has reservations. The party's member consist of various immigrants that happened to be there, each with his own problems and Anke's mother who objects to the marriage and is expelled by her own daughter.

The celebration of the 50th anniversary of “Capitol-Insurance” is due – that's what the bosses thought. All employees are invited to join the party in a hotel. However, rumors say the company's not doing very well. To avoid unemployment due to the possible shutdown of the smaller branch office the only option is to move to the headquarters. The movie is about the encounter of a man and a woman who meet for the first time in a foreign city. Together they embark on a journey which leads them to the edges, the peripheries of society, to places bloked from our vision, to marginal zones, wasteland, ghettos, urban slums, or the remnants of a dying rural culture.

The registrar Ellen is an unhappy single woman - and has to marry couples in love every day. After a shoplifting incident, Ellen, who is addicted to shopping and tablets, ends up with the attractive therapist Christian. Although he is about to get married, the two begin an affair - until one day he and his fiancée end up in Ellen's wedding room, of all places.

When her store is to be closed, a sales assistant wants to give "those up there" a real piece of her mind. On the management floor, however, Sara is mistaken for a new colleague who is supposed to get the fashion company back on its feet. She soon realizes that someone is literally cheating on the labels and turning the cheapest thread into supposedly high-end goods. Together with a dapper colleague on the board, she searches for the fraudster, but then she herself is exposed.

A woman admitted in a mental health centre in order to overcome the death of her son decides to finish with her life. Her situation worries her husband and also her roomate, who is admitted in the centre although being in perfect mental situation.

Ten episodes tell the stories of ten encounters involving a male hooker, an actor, a cleaning lady, a female theater director, a male kindergarten teacher, a poetess, a publisher, a woman, who is a lawyer, a male puppeteer and a female make-up artist. The whole circle is triggered by the off-chance meeting of the poetess and the puppeteer on an overnight bus to Vienna, where the puppeteer succeeds in persuading the poetess to stay for a day in Vienna. All the encounters take place in one day and after 24 hours they meet again, but their lives have changed.
