Bai Xiaoyu meets Wang Jinjin for the first time in the summer of 2010 during their college entrance exams. Adapted from novels by celebrated Chinese writer Su Tong. Zuo Lin, a poor bow-legged boy, has a small dream - to ride a zebra across the busiest part of the city. Set against the backdrop of the Chinese Civil War, the film tells the story of a secret agent named Lin Xi. Lin Xi, a covert operative working for the Communist side, is tasked with rescuing a fellow spy codenamed "Green Snake" who has been captured by the enemy. His mission is to help "Green Snake" deliver crucial defense plans of Jinzhou city to the People's Liberation Army outside the city, thereby supporting the assault on Jinzhou.

The story is based on the popular novel developed from folk legend. It goes that the Manchurian emperor Qianlong of China (circa 18th Century) was actually the son of a Han Chinese, the subject ethnicity. His brother of blood, Chen Jialuo just happened to be the chief of the Red Flower Society, an anti-Manchu secret society. Chen, a learned scholar, thought he could get his brother turn his back on the Manchu and restore the Han Chinese reign. But the story was ended by brutal clearence of the society members. It reflects one of the dark pages in Chinese culture, that ethics and humanity always become impotent when countered with power.

Jade enjoys married life, but after her husband accepts a promotion and becomes the president of his company, he focuses almost exclusively on his work, neglecting her needs. To revive their marriage, Jade insists on taking a trip with her husband. However their relationship takes a turn for the worse when she meets a man on their trip…and asks him to kill her husband.
