A woman meets a conceited young novelist aboard a yacht, and decides to teach him a lesson he won't forget.

A woman plans to boost her public profile by getting a divorce. She enlists the help of a male friend to act as co-respondent leading to a series of mix-ups and her eventual decision not to get divorced.

Two teachers, man-hungry Doris and restrained Marian, visit the Yorkshire moors a year after friend Evelyn disappeared there. On a stormy night, they take refuge in the isolated cottage of Stephen, one-time pianist shell-shocked in the Spanish Civil War. Doris flees as soon as the flood subsides; but Marian's suspicions about Evelyn's fate, in conflict with her growing love for Stephen, prompt her to stay on among the misty bogs.

A daughter visits her father after being estranged for 3 years and schemes to destroy his relationship with another woman.

A retired Admiral steals jewels and is pursued by Spanish bandits.
