In a Caribbean island, actress-singer Clara Militch, a 20 year old Russian émigré, becomes obsessed at first sight with shy introvert Jake Lewton, a shaken young man who has joined his aunt in the island following his mother's suicide. Clara's pursuit of Jake shows reckless disregard. Frightened by Clara's passion and the turmoil she wreaks in him, Jake rejects her. Shockingly, Clara kills herself while performing on stage. Upon learning of her suicide, Jake is driven to decipher what drove Clara to her death. Feeling haunted by her ghost, Jake realizes that Clara hopes to achieve in death what she couldn't in life: his love for her. The forces of santería are called to fend off the possessive ghost, but to no avail. Clara's love is stronger than death.

Follows a haunted veteran helicopter pilot, scraping by on Caribbean charter flights, whose aircraft is seized by hijackers. He is forced at gunpoint into a mission to pull off a daring prison break. As the operation collapses into violence and betrayal his only way out is to keep flying.
