The Night of the Pencils was a series of kidnappings and forced disappearances, followed by the torture, rape, and murder of a number of young students during the last Argentine dictatorship (known as the National Reorganization Process). The kidnappings took place over the course of several days beginning on September 16, 1976.

Set during the unsettling disappearances in Buenos Aires during the dictatorship of the 1970s, the film involves theater director Carlos Rueda and his wife Cecilia. Shortly after Cecilia writes an editorial commentary questioning the mysterious abductions, she is herself abducted and taken into police custody.

Chiqui is a fifty-year-old woman with a mild mental disability. She is an only child, single, and has never been known to have a relationship. She lives in the house she inherited from her parents and shares it with her cousin and her cousin's family. They have assumed authority as owners of the house, relegating Chiqui to a limited life. This family's situation will change when Chiqui introduces Bocha, her boyfriend, on Christmas Eve. His mere presence will change the entire course of life in the house, leading Chiqui's family to dark corners.

Romina has been working as a promoter for more than 20 years and, about to turn 40, faces few and poorly paid job offers. Her last days at work take her to bars and events. He decides to leave it, but in a Buenos Aires with crisis and unemployment, he cannot re-enter the labor market.

Pablo, professor at the University of Buenos Aires, has an affair with Luciana, one of his students. Natalia, another professor at the University of Buenos Aires starts an affair with her student Gonzalo. Two stories, as two sides of the same coin.

Tells the irruption of a John Lennon impersonator, whom a stunt manager presents as the real idol, deceiving a famous television host who plans fearsome revenge.
