A family story of incest, decadence and desolation. Greece, early twentieth century. A bourgeois family is on the verge of breaking up. The mother has abandoned the family, and the father, a retired officer, keeps his three daughters, as well as the illegitimate son of the oldest daughter, confined in the house. After his death, the three sisters live through their personal drama. The eldest, Eleni, imbued with the morals of the time and closely identifying with her father, tries to take his place. The middle one, Maria, representing rebellion, goes off with a captain of the sanitation service, while the youngest, Anna, skating on thin ice through all this, is completely destroyed.

Tamtakos has a goat, Sardanafalos, and exploits its reproduction with the goats of the area. However, he falls into the trap of the tax authorities, who cannot classify the goat's "leap" in the VAT category. When the ministry's economic committee decides on a 6% VAT rate in order to support livestock farming, it is too late for Tamtakos, as the goat has already been slaughtered by Lefteris, the husband of an offended villager.

One of these boys strangles his wealthy client and he is immediately arrested.

A police officer is called, along with his team, to investigate a kidnapping case of a young son of a businessman.

During the German Occupation, two brothers, Takis and Christos, fight the invaders with great ferocity. Both of them belong to resistance groups – different ones. One night, three young men try to destroy the props for the theatrical performance, and Giannis tries to stop them, ending up back in prison. The students manage to get him out of jail, and he embarks on a ship and leaves far away.

Stathis, who is the director of a corporation, after the death of his lord confesses his daughter, but her mother, who is also a major shareholder in the company, wanting to dominate the situation itself, degrades her name. Stathis' reaction is direct and "satanic". He devises a kidnapping pattern of his stunt during a fun party they give at home, but the authorized kidnappers make a mistake, and in his place they capture him. His mother-in-law refuses to pay the ransom and he is in the most difficult position to convince the kidnappers that the target was not his but his poor homeland.
