It chronicles the lives of 20 Spanish-speaking women from various countries, tracing the permissions they had to ask for—simply "because they were WOMEN"—and the milestones they have achieved. Spanning a century of history, the women range in age from 8 to 95; they talk about everything and dream of even more.

Ami is a 6 year old girl, extremely sensitive. Her mother, Carmen, lives with the obsession of giving a son to her husband, Gabriel. When finally she gets pregnant, the relation between mother and daughter becomes a tragic one, driving the family to an inevitable nightmare.
