Reminiscent of Kafka's Die Verwandlung, the life of a Puerto Rican family changes as they wake up one morning and find out that their oldest son and sole economic income has suffered a mutation and is transformed into a coqui.

Combines animation, documentary footage, and hand-painted film as well as slide projections, a painted 12" x 24" backdrop, and sculptural palm tree to create a kaleidoscopic portrait of the Puerto Rican psyche.

Film interpretation of the story of the writer Luis Rafael Sánchez bearing the same name. A man and his wife have lost various children. When he learns his wife is pregnant again, he decides to murder her, fearing they would lose another child.
