On the shores of Lake Lucerne, Riccardo Chailly and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra continue their Rachmaninov odyssey with the Symphonic Movement, a rarely performed piece, as well as the Symphonic Dances and the Scherzo in D minor. Johann Sebastian Bach’s *St John Passion*, performed in Leipzig by the young boys of the St Thomas Church Choir, which the composer conducted for twenty-seven years.

Axel Kohler, the internationally renowned countertenor has brought Admeto into the modern era in timeless style by the skillful application of imaginative theatrical digressions. Köhler's production at the Halle Opernhaus revisits a work that encompasses comedy, tragedy and almost absurd grotesqueness, couching it in the convincing metaphor of a modern hospital.

In 2025, the music world will commemorate the 50th anniversary of Dmitri Shostakovich's death. The Gewandhaus Orchestra is dedicating an entire festival to the great Russian composer, performing almost all of his instrumental works. A highlight is the performance of the Leningrad Symphony, which is still highly topical today in its warning against war and dictatorship.

To mark the 90th birthday of Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, a special concert featuring three of his iconic works, recorded in Görlitz, Germany.

The Triple Concerto is one of Beethoven's less frequently performed works - probably also because it requires three soloists and makes considerable demands on them. ARTE presents the Concerto for Violin, Violoncello, Piano and Orchestra in C major at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, performed by an excellent trio of soloists. It is accompanied by the Gewandhaus Orchestra under the direction of Herbert Blomstedt.

Conductors Andris Nelsons, Klaus Mäkelä, Riccardo Chailly, and Petr Popelka will take turns conducting the four movements of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. This concert event celebrates the bicentennial of the premiere of Beethoven's masterpiece.

As a child, Christoph Eschenbach was forced to flee Wrocław in 1945. On 25 April 2025, he returns to his home town to commemorate the end of the Second World War. For this solemn concert, the conductor has chosen to combine Arnold Schönberg's post-war work A Survivor from Warsaw with Johannes Brahms's German Requiem.
