When megalomaniacal White Goodman, the owner of a trendy, high-end fitness center, makes a move to take over the struggling local gym run by happy-go-lucky Pete La Fleur, there's only one way for La Fleur to fight back: dodgeball. Aided by a dodgeball guru and Goodman's attorney, La Fleur and his rag-tag team of underdogs launch a knock-down, drag-out battle in which the winner takes all.

Meanwhile, the Taylors are an African-American family living in the deep South. When Willie Taylor, a minister and civil rights organizer, is shot to death, his son Emmet moves to the city and eventually joins the Black Panthers, serving as a bodyguard for Fred Hampton.

The Grizzly Scouts are about to hold their William Tell badge trials when Eddie discovers a secret about the town's richest, most popular family, whose son also happens to be Eddie's bully and the favorite to win the contest. Eddie devises a plan with newcomers Deena and her two brothers in order to try and make things right.
