The film tells the life story of its director, Jan Nemec, one of the most known and important filmmakers of Czech New Wave.

Miko is a truck driver, his father is Romani, and above all he is a man who wanted to help those in need. When the Czech government was looking for reasons not to take in a few dozen children from Greek refugee camps after the chemical attacks on Syrian civilians in 2018, Miko took justice into his own hands and, together with the Czechs Helping initiative, prepared facilities for child refugees. However, government officials gave priority to political interests. Will parliamentary elections and a change of ministries save the situation? An unflattering but accurately portrayal of the Czech Republic as a country that will only offer a helping hand when it is worthwhile.

The main axis of the film is the story of Standy Kadlec, an overly trusting and kind man, and his pregnant wife Alena. On the other hand, it is the story of Ladi, the closest assistant of the mayor of Brno, Lang. Ladi is Standa's classmate from high school. He is, however, Stand's opposite in character. While Stand's kindness and good manners condemn him to a life role of a "loser", Ladi gathers shameless success. But gradually we learn who really has the most to lose...

A documentary portrait of the leading Czech theatre director Jan Antonín Pitínský, who has been involved in theatre since the 1980s. In 1985 he founded the Ochotnicky kroužek Brno, where he soon came to prominence with his productions of F. Kafka's Amerika and Matka (Mother), which he wrote himself. After the Velvet Revolution, he began directing at many theatre venues in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. He has won several Alfréd Radok Awards, and in 2007 he was awarded the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. His work has influenced the next generation of theatre directors and filmmakers. His most recent production is The Search for Lost Time at the National Theatre in Brno, which he staged in 2019. During his career, he has also been an active playwright, poet and writer.
