Sarat Pujari

The movie is based on industrialisation and subsequent displacement of Paraja tribals in Koraput district. The film deals with problems faced by the ethnic communities of Niyamgiri hills due to rampant mining and rebel activities.

While working under a brickyard owner, Pooja becomes best friends with the owner's daughter Mickey. However, circumstances force them apart only for destiny to unite them later cruelly.

When Bhagwan Shri Jagannath and his brother, Bhagwan Shri Balabhadra, refuse to partake offerings from a lower-caste woman, Shriya. Devi Maa Lakshmi is offended and puts a curse on both of them. The duo, hungry and homeless, go from village to village, house to house in search of food. Kedar Babu is a freedom fighter since the days of Mahatma Gandhi's call for a Civil Disobedience Movement. Kedar Babu lost his wife at an early stage of his marriage. Since then, he has brought up his only son Sangram with all paternal affection. In town, Sangram stays in the house of a landlord, Bahadur Suryakant Singh, where there is a gradual moral decline. This puts him in a state of dilemma and delusion. In the last encounter with his father. Sangram experiences a new perception of life, illuminated with anxiety.

While looking for his lost dog, Babula finds a strange looking creature who is actually an alien from outer space. He brings the creature home and hides him in his room. Babula takes care of him and the two develop a loving bond. However, when his parents discover the alien, they try to kill him thinking it could harm their child. Babula is deeply upset by this reaction and tells his friend to escape the violence of his world and go back to his own planet. The film contrasts the suspicious nature of adults versus the trusting perspective of children, hinting that be it in this world or another, the most important emotion is compassion.

This film portrays the plight of the "Bajnias" or "Ganda" tribe of Odisha who are traditionally drummers by profession and the negative impact of cultural dominance by dominant class of people.

Dashyu Ratnakar who kills the travelers for wealth for support and maintenance of his family. When suggested by Narad Muni to esquire his family members i.e. his father, mother, wife and children if they would receive some portions of his vice which he had done for their maintenance, Ratnakar is astonished by their replies. They all replied that it is his (Ratnakar's) duty to maintain his family. They are not responsible for the method by which Ratnakar earned money. At that reply Ratnakar was deeply shocked, promised to shun all his means of vices and achieved sage-hood through deep penance. He later transformed into Maharshi Valmiki who wrote the great epic Ramayana.

Sadhana was based on the novel ‘Chhinapatra’ by Ashapoorna Devi. The film was adjudged as 2nd Best Regional Film (Odia) and received President’s Silver Medal. Actor Sarat Pujari was co-producer of Sadhana. He also written dialogues under the pseudo name Shiladitya, assisted by Minati Mishra.

Arundhati wants to marry Manoj but Biswajit claims Arundhati is his wife Madhu who supposedly died in a train accident. Eventually the confusion is resolved.

Sura Babu lives with his wife Parbati, brother Raju & son Debi. Parbati loves Rabi more than his own son. Her efforts fail as Champa take side of Raju. Dr Das's assistant Mukund and doctor Rabi, a new comer to the village compete for Champa's hand. Dr Das makes the proposal to Sura Babu on behalf of Mukund for Champa's hand. Sura agrees with a misunderstand that Doctor Das himself wants to marry Champa. In the meantime Mukund decided that he is not suitable for Champa. On the marriage day sura Babu forces Dr. Das to marry Champa. At the last moment Raju is found in bridal attire

The tale of Goddess Lakshmi leaving the temple to teach brothers Lord Jagannath and Lord Balabhadra a lesson was presented in the movie. This movie later remade in Hindi as "Jai Jagannath". Prashant Nanda acted as child Shri Krushna. Geeta Dutt was in the Hindi version. Famous singer Hemant Kumar also given voice in this film.
