Dashyu Ratnakar who kills the travelers for wealth for support and maintenance of his family. When suggested by Narad Muni to esquire his family members i.e. his father, mother, wife and children if they would receive some portions of his vice which he had done for their maintenance, Ratnakar is astonished by their replies. They all replied that it is his (Ratnakar's) duty to maintain his family. They are not responsible for the method by which Ratnakar earned money. At that reply Ratnakar was deeply shocked, promised to shun all his means of vices and achieved sage-hood through deep penance. He later transformed into Maharshi Valmiki who wrote the great epic Ramayana.

Sura Babu lives with his wife Parbati, brother Raju & son Debi. Parbati loves Rabi more than his own son. Parbati falls ill and Raju comes to Puri believing that Lord Jaganath's prasad can cure Parbati and brings prasad. The illness continues and native doctor Das is called in. Parbati gradually cured in. Later Parbati's mother and sister Champa come to stay with her. Parbati's mother is not well disposed towards mischievous Raju and tries to influence Parbati against him. Her efforts fail as Champa take side of Raju. Dr Das's assistant Mukund and doctor Rabi, a new comer to the village compete for Champa's hand. Dr Das makes the proposal to Sura Babu on behalf of Mukund for Champa's hand. Sura agrees with a misunderstand that Doctor Das himself wants to marry Champa. In the meantime Mukund decided that he is not suitable for Champa. On the marriage day sura Babu forces Dr. Das to marry Champa. At the last moment Raju is found in bridal attire

When Bhagwan Shri Jagannath and his brother, Bhagwan Shri Balabhadra, refuse to partake offerings from a lower-caste woman, Shriya. Devi Maa Lakshmi is offended and puts a curse on both of them. The duo, hungry and homeless, go from village to village, house to house in search of food. Sadhana was based on the novel ‘Chhinapatra’ by Ashapoorna Devi. The film was adjudged as 2nd Best Regional Film (Odia) and received President’s Silver Medal. Actor Sarat Pujari was co-producer of Sadhana. He also written dialogues under the pseudo name Shiladitya, assisted by Minati Mishra.

Kalyani (Roy), an intrepid journalist, investigates the rape and murder of a tribal woman by a politician in rural Orissa. Later, she also investigates the criminal activities of a moneylender, becoming increasingly involved in the lives of the tribal people, adopting the child of the dead tribal woman. However, her editor either suppresses or publishes distorted versions of her stories. This is intercut with the journalist’s own troubled married life.

Amada Bata is a classic Odia film directed by Amar Ganguly, based on eminent Odia woman writer of yester years Basant Kumari Pattanayak's master piece Amada Bata (1930), whose primary concern is the character Maya (Played by Jharana Das), before and after her marriage.

The movie is based on industrialisation and subsequent displacement of Paraja tribals in Koraput district. The film deals with problems faced by the ethnic communities of Niyamgiri hills due to rampant mining and rebel activities.

Made in the budget of Rs. 85,000, this is the debut film of Sarat Pujari. The tale of Goddess Lakshmi leaving the temple to teach brothers Lord Jagannath and Lord Balabhadra a lesson was presented in the movie. This movie later remade in Hindi as "Jai Jagannath". Prashant Nanda acted as child Shri Krushna. Geeta Dutt was in the Hindi version. Famous singer Hemant Kumar also given voice in this film.

The film contrasts the suspicious nature of adults versus the trusting perspective of children, hinting that be it in this world or another, the most important emotion is compassion.
