Chan Chi-Ming

Unable to satisfy his sexual desires with his wife, Biu regularly visits prostitutes. Afterwards, he ties up and tortures them in various ways before killing them. Biu believes that if they die, they will be reincarnated and have a better life. He murders over a dozen people. One day, a young woman named Yuk comes to stay with Biu's family. He falls in love with her but is afraid that he will kill her, so he makes her leave. Yuk has nowhere to go and starts working as a prostitute. When Biu finds her doing this, he has sex with Yuk and gets her pregnant.

Herman Yau turns his eye on the struggles of immigrants from Mainland China in this neorealist drama, which depicts the plight of a woman forced into prostitution after her husband becomes unemployed, leading to an unflinching story about the problem of domestic violence among families living in poverty.

Dee is a disheveled, hot-headed HK cop; Apple Yu is an urbane, designer-dressed inspector from the ICAC. Now, they're partners trying to bring down (still another) triad crime ring. To intimidate Apple, Dee dresses like a model, but finds that her partner has taken on a street-punk guise to intimidate her. They locate a priest who's a triad defector; and while Dee takes a nun's guise, her partner tries to pull off being a junkie in withdrawal.
