A Puerto Rican movie and documentary producer. A pioneer in the film industry of Puerto Rico, he was the first Puerto Rican to produce commercially successful films in the island. In 1934, he produced and directed "Romance Tropical", the first Puerto Rican film with sound.

NRFollows Carlos (Jorge Rodríguez), a young bohemian in love with Margarita (Ernestina Canino). However, their efforts to be together are endangered when her father catches them together without permission. Unable to be with her at the moment, Carlos embarks on a trip on a sailboat and ends up in the mysterious island of Mu, where he meets Alura (Raquel Canino). Will he remain with his newfound native love, or will he return to his longlost Margarita? Romance Tropical was one of the first Puerto Rican films with sound. The whereabouts of the original reels of the film were unknown, until they were found at the UCLA Film & Television Archive in 2017.
