Hybrid documentary about one of the most successful shows in Puerto Rican television history: ‘No te duermas’

After a run-in with local thugs, aspiring Harlem rapper Rob flees to a place and father he never knew, and finds his salvation in Reggaeton, a spicy blend of hip-hop, reggae and Latin beats. Puerto Rico, the spiritual home of Reggaeton, inspires Rob and his step-brother Javi to pursue their dream of becoming Reggaeton stars. Together with a dancer named C.C., they learn what it means to stay true to themselves and each other, while overcoming obstacles in love, greed and pride, all culminating in an explosive performance at New York’s Puerto Rican Day Parade.

The film is set in the island of Puerto Rico. Because of its central location in the Caribbean, the island has become one of the main ports of drug entry from South America into the United States. The film follows the lives of three families in different levels of society affected by drug trafficking and crime in the island.

The film includes highlights of the Banco Popular's music specials, whose production started in 1993.

Victoria is a beautiful, successful, upper middle class lawyer; but very unsatisfied with her private life. She is all consumed by her high pressure career and there is little time left to find love. Although at first Victoria has reservations because of her prejudices, she discovers in him a person that, unlike her, enjoys his life and follows his dreams. Through their relationship Victoria learns there is more to life than succeeding, there is also living. Perhaps love is meant to happen instead of being pursued.

This musical production completes the trilogy dedicated to Christmas which began in 2004. This musical approach is characterized by the integration of contemporary rhythms such as reggaeton with traditional sounds, leading the viewer to experience new aspects in music.
