Macross Delta is set in the year 2067, eight years after the events of Macross Frontier. The story focuses on Walküre, a team of talented idols and the Delta Squadron, a team of experienced Valkyrie pilots as they battle against the Var Syndrome, a mysterious phenomena that is consuming the galaxy, alongside the mysterious Aerial Knights Valkyrie fighter team of the Kingdom of Wind. This film recompiles scenes from the television anime with new scenes to tell a different story.

Seventy years ago, several mysterious murders occurred in Tokyo, Japan. Young, beautiful women were found dead, their bodies dried up like ancient mummies. Now young women are dying the same way and Miho, a 19 year-old college student discovers that a weird stranger is stalking her. While her best friend Azusa, is busy seducing their professor, she discovers he is not human at all, but a horrible tentacle-endowed monster! Now that his dark secret is revealed, both girls are on the run for their life, but can she escape from the hideous monster disguised as a mild-mannered professor?

Up and coming pop idol star Ikumi Murase seems to have everything a girl could want beauty, fame, fortune and even a handsome boyfriend! But not everyone is pleased with Ikumi's success. Akira, Ikumi's beau, is starting to resent the fact that she never has time for him. To top it off, Ikumi's jealous co-star Ms. Lieh wants to bring Ikumi down at any cost even if it means summoning an ancient demon.
