Questions about ideas about the future are usually only answered in very general terms. In the "Workshop Future", everyday people have the opportunity to communicate their ideas and wishes through pictures. What will work look like in the next millennium, will everything be done by machines, what is behind the concept? Will work be more and more thinking? What will it look like in the household, what ideas do mothers have for the kindergarten of the future? Inspired by various ideas, visions of the future are to be presented together with the thinking viewer.

Two men want to escape the hustle and bustle of Christmas in the city and travel to the countryside. However, it's not easy to find accommodation on the spur of the moment. And so they end up in a rather spartan hostel…

Angelika, who is becoming increasingly frustrated, finally wants a satisfying occupation with which she can gain recognition. But this is where the problems really begin for the couple.

Karlemann is very often found in his own 'Robinson world', a secluded place on earth. There he travels the river in his special all-weather boat, and he has his domicile on the river, all built himself. One day he meets two soldiers of the National People's Army who got lost in Karlemann's empire. He shows the them the right way. What Karlemann does not yet suspect: a bridge is to be built over the river at the exact spot where his hut stands...

The Soviet boy Kostya is an enthusiastic radio operator. When fascist German troops occupy his home town, the 13-year-old is conscripted into forced labor. His hatred of the occupying forces grows, but he is too young to join a partisan unit. But then he comes across a badly wounded Soviet scout. Kostya summons up all his courage and takes on his dangerous mission.
