Alexandra Lemay

Freaks of Nurture is an animated short about a neurotic mother-daughter relationship inspired by the filmmaker’s own unorthodox upbringing with her single-parent mom, who is also a foster parent and dog breeder. Self-deprecating and bursting with energy, the film reveals that no matter how grown-up we think we are, we never quite stop craving the love and support of a parent.

In The Dog Ate My Homework, Alexandra Lemay takes a humorous look at screen addiction and its effects on young people’s concentration. Through the character of Charlie, children are encouraged to think about the length of their screen time and the ways they use online content.

A mink walks into a fur store. Fantastic Mr. Fox meets The Shining in this stop-motion cautionary tale of what happens when we don’t think enough about what we buy. Inspired by found sound of two dogs growling, proudly animal-friendly, and produced as part of the 10th edition of the NFB’s Hothouse apprenticeship.

Quick Fix is a stop-motion/Live-action hybrid that explores the comedic parallels between our throwaway habits and serial dating. This bittersweet love affair follows a coffee cup who becomes smitten by his drinker.
