But the children are not the only ones gripped by fear; the film also explores how lies from the past can have a haunting presence. The film follows a proven formula of taking a deeply rooted legend from Catalan folklore and transforming it into a universal story. The Monster of Many Noses is a captivating exploration of history, myth, and the human condition.

In the midst of the Spanish Civil War, the rise of anarcho-syndicalism brings Frederica Montseny into the Republic’s government. She reluctantly accepts the position to prevent the spread of fascism, becoming the first female minister in Spain — and in Europe. After the war, Montseny is forced into exile in France, where she faces an extradition trial that puts her firm convictions to the test.

"Laia" is located in the imaginary village of Sinera, a fishing village inhabited by a series of extreme characters, indiscriminately diverted to the adversities of destiny. There, Laia lives, a woman marked by a miserable and unhappy childhood, that is debated between her cruel husband and lover who is his best friend and faces the hatred of a whole town while dreaming of a freedom that only the sea can grant.

Three stories intertwine as different people deal with the challenges of living through times of crisis. An evicted mother, a banker with a conscience and a police officer who has to do his job no matter what, sing and dance in this Brechtian musical drama about the economic crisis, people’s struggle with daily life, solidarity and hope.
