Italy, 1980s. Three thugs stumble upon a remote, out-of-place hotel: a refuge at the edge of the world. But this isn't just their story. Overburdened and stuck in a greying marriage, Giovanna takes to caring for a Jewish Holocaust survivor her husband brings home. As she begins to reflect on her life, she turns to the man who lives across from her.

Irene, a workaholic, is forced to re-evaluate her priorities after the suicide of her two best friends.
