Dulmuluk, an elderly man who still lives with his grandson, Dulmalik. Dulmuluk often goes to town leaving his grandchildren to help ward off the terror of ghosts. Without him realizing it, the house next door is also haunted and Dulmalik is always terrorized.

When East Timor is separated from Indonesia, two siblings are also separated. Merry, 10, lives with her mother, Tatiana, 29, at a refugee camp in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara.
