Was he evil incarnate? The twisted leader of the Dungeon of Doom stable was busy on both sides of the camera in 1996 as some very familiar faces to WWE fans began popping up on WCW TV and were preparing a takeover of the company. This formation of the nWo would launch WCW over the top, as it would soon overtake WWE in the ratings. Kevin Sullivan was booking the WCW, but it was getting really crowded in those decision making meetings. It seemed everyone had an opinion, and Hulk Hogan’s creative control clause would lead to some of the oddest decisions in pro wrestling, as many in power could only sit back and watch. It's January 1989 and significant changes are coming for WCW. There would soon be a change in bookers with Dusty heading out. Jim Herd is taking the helm as executive vice president of the company and within a year a series of confounding decisions would result in damaged ratings, confusion in creative, a nearly empty Superdome, Ding-Dongs and a disappointing Bash tour. Jim Cornette returns to the timeline series and now takes you inside the WCW in 1989. He's brought along all his paperwork from the company for that year...TV formats, ratings, reports, journal entries...for a ride that's as entertaining as it is informative. It's classic Corny as he takes us back to a time in WCW that has to be heard to be believed.

Huge stars appeared on TV weekly as Nash, Hall, Syxx, Hogan, Savage, Flair, Bret and Sting were red hot and would drive ratings high. Starrcade would deliver WCW’s highest buyrate in 1997 as well. Two organizations, two Heavyweight titles, dipping business and a whole lot of confusion comes to the WCW in 1993. Now you can head back there as well with our tour guide Vader, who was holding the WCW title. Sure, there was to be an NWA champion during this time as well, but Vader’s title was the WCW title which carried more weight…didn’t it? In this year we will hear of Eric Bischoff’s ascension, prepping Hogan’s return, Dusty’s booking and Flair’s booking as the Nature Boy returned to WCW TV. In this year Vader changed the game as he became the first 400-pounder to hit a moonsault and set records in Japan while holding the WCW belt. DDP is one of wrestling's straightest shooters and his recent quest to cleanse the lives of the more challenged figures in the sport has made him one of the most talked about characters in the game. We’re still in the 80s and we’re flying high! Hogan is still drawing his legion of fans and the WWE is running 2,3, and even 6 (yes SIX) shows in a day. Things are good and Hogan’s best friend in the business would get his highest profile run, albeit in the form of a very odd gimmick. Brutus Beefcake had become “The Barber” and was struttin’ and cuttin’ his way to headlining Summerslam with Hogan against Savage and Zeus. Yeah, remember him?! It is said that the brightest lights burn out the fastest, and the explosive flash that was ECW is headed for the twilight in 2000. The company would collapse in early 2001 and we will join Justin Credible to walk down the plank toward the end of an era. Credible would wear the ECW title in 2000 and complete the journey he calls the most creatively satisfying time in his career. After leaving TNA in 2012, Vince Russo was laying low. Out of the limelight, he only became more of a mythic figure to smart fans. Here is his first public appearance after that…where he answers all of your most pressing questions!

Some say it was the pinnacle of the ECW movement. It was the year 1996 and the company was all wrestling fans could talk about. The crew of misfits and rebels were becoming stars and to here this current guest describe it...The life of excess would mark 96 as one of the 'lost years.' But Raven remembers enough to take you inside the renegade federation in this explosive year of 1996.

Atop the tag team division in the WWE in 1981 stood a fiery youngster and his brother figure, both of whom had the looks and the brawn to bring fans to their feet all over the Northeast. They slammed Moondogs, battled Samoans, and were high-flying champions full of excitement. Head back to 1981 with Rick Martel and enter the locker rooms walked by Vincent J. McMahon, Gorilla Monsoon, Capt Lou Albano and the legends of yesteryear. This may have been a simpler time in the business, but the lessons learned were hard, and so was the road. Come into the venues of yesteryear and see who was getting over and who wasn’t. This is the real deal…a time with no cable TV, no pay-per-view, and one hour of syndicated TV per week…and the arenas were packed.

It’s 1990 and things are about to change. One of wrestling’s most celebrated managers and bookers would see his successful tenure in WCW come to an abrupt end. There would be Black Scorpions, a Mysterious Pearl, and a fake Sting, among other things, to keep fans riveted. But perhaps it’s what we weren’t able to see that makes this year all the more interesting. Head back to the tumultuous year of 1990 with Jim Cornette as he draws back the curtain on the booking decisions, ratings, and the blowouts with WCW head honcho Jim Herd in this entertaining and informative edition of the Timeline series. We will show you the WCW/TBS documents as Jim narrates the story that would prove to be the end of his run with the company…in all the glorious detail you’d expect from Timeline and the spellbinding rancor you’d expect from Cornette!

In early 1963, Toots Mondt and Vincent J. McMahon seceded from the governance of the NWA to form the WWWF. Shortly thereafter they would crown their champion and hang the fortune of their venture on him. That man will be your guide for a journey back to 1963 and the formative years of the WWWF up through 1969. Bruno Sammartino was selling out houses all across the northeast and was privy to all the inner workings of the company.

Before Francine became a sex symbol for the most violent, depraved organization in wrestling, she was a regular Philly girl. She was working a menial insurance job with wrestling nowhere on her radar. On a whim, she grabs the phone and calls a number she sees on TV for the ECW training school. The rest is hardcore history. The ECW landscape was pretty tough so now you’ll hear how this lady, as tough as her character, managed to navigate that road and come out on the other side. Francine fought through great personal tragedies as well as great disappointment over accusations aimed at her from an ECW talent on a KC show. Tear-jerker and laugh riot, all the same, this edition of Breaking Kayfabe stands as all do–part interview, part therapy…all shoot.

During this era of the brand split, we began seeing promos shot at an Irish castle, featuring an intriguing figure. This guy would debut in January, get some gold around his waist, and work the “Smackdown” brand in the WWE. Dave Finlay is that guy, and he’s our guide back to the year 2006 in the world’s biggest federation. Finaly would also agent for the the WWE, as well as train, so he’s got a very unique perspective of life in the federation, both on camera and off. 1980 in the WWF. Business isn’t so hot. Backlund isn’t drawing the houses they thought he would and business is moribund at best. That is, until a young Larry Zbyszko proposes an idea to his mentor that would change the course of the federation, and make the career of Zbyszko himself. This journey into 1980 is an incredible illustration of how Bruno Sammartino gave Larry Zbyszko the education of a lifetime in both the construction of the “Shea Stadium” program, as well as how to play the game of politics with the heavy hitters, like McMahon. No one saw the impact this angle would have on the gate at Shea, the direction of the company, the shadow it would cast on World Champion Backlund, and the heat and hatred Zbyszko would have to get used to living with. Relive the angle that re-ignited the biggest federation in the world…from the INSIDE…from the angle’s conception, to holding McMahon up for more money.

The WWE would soon feel the explosion of what has come to be known as the second boom period. But in 1995, those benefits could not yet be reaped. Business was down, the B shows were cancelled. What could turn this around? Vince hoped it would be a group of guys working at the top of his card…a group that became known as the clique. Kevin Nash will take us back to ’95 when the kliq was formed, and he was given the strap. The shoot-style series Timeline brought the inner workings of the WWE and ECW to the historians out there. And now the series has spun-off again as the spotlight is shone on WCW. From the Crockett days in the mid-80s up to its purchase in 2001, the WCW was the staunchest competitor, igniting the famed Monday Night Wars. But in this edition we take you back to times that weren’t so glorious. Four Horseman member Barry Windham travels back to 1991 with us as we look some odd booking decisions and the period in the business between the glorious 80s and the high octane 90s.

To understand what ECW became, we must learn from where it came. In a wrestling world invaded by Goons, pig farmers, and Sparky Plugs, there would soon operate a wrestling church in South Philadelphia. That site preached gospel to wrestling fans longing for some danger and believability. And for this very special edition of the series we head back to that very location, the former ECW Arena. Our guest for this exploration of the very inception of ECW is the founder, Tod Gordon. Tod will take you inside everything that formed the company and fostered the identity that the big feds would try to emulate. Before taking on the identity of WCW, Jim Crockett Promotions would get great national exposure on WTBS after buying the slot from Vince McMahon for $1 million. Their stars were now stars all over the country, and our guest for this edition was becoming the biggest babyface in the company. Magnum TA had just arrived from Mid South and was taking the territory by storm, heading toward the US Title and becoming the #1 challenger for Flair. He’d feud with Tully, battle Flair, and help JCP begin its transition to what would become known as WCW. 1985 is the first year in our journey, so come along and join Magnum and hear about the red hot year that would propel the company into a decade and a half wild ride.

The WCW Invasion angle fell short of expectations and the wrestling world watched WWE swallow WCW without fanfare. Jim Cornette has a thing or twenty to say about that! There was once a time when bookers sat in the audience to gauge the reaction to their decision. They realized that it was the fans that decided whether their ideas were good or not. Today, writers are disconnected from the desires of the paying fans, and their opinions and Internet postings are largely ignored. Bill Eadie booked at a time when the fans were everything. He learned from the greats that sat up in the “cheap seats” to hear what the true fans were saying. And he shares that old school mentality on this edition of Guest Booker. We give Bill the task of booking a breakup of one of wrestling’s most formidable teams. That team, Demolition, Eadie helped build. And now he’ll have to tear it down for his booking exercise. Bill Eadie reminds us that there was little relevance to a heel or babyface designation when someone was as over as Demolition was. Butch Reed had always heard the popular myth in wrestling that two black wrestlers could never draw against each other in the South. In 1984, both Reed and The Junkyard Dog were ready to blow that theory out of the water in Bill Watts’s Mid-South territory. The blow off of that angle was the legendary Ghetto Street Fight. THE BUILD UP - Butch turns heel and not only double-crosses JYD, but sets the South on fire by painting JYD and then tarring and feathering him. THE ANGLE - Butch and Dog worked each other from 1983 into 1984, drawing in help from talent like Buddy Landel and Ted DiBiase up until June of 1984 at the New Orleans Superdome. THE SHOT - Over 20,000 people come to see the blow-off for the North American Title between the two strongest draws in Mid South!

Before huge weekend events and Hall of Fame shows, Wrestlemania was just a big card at MSG with some starpower behind it. Vince was risking it all on this show and this edition of Supercard stars one of the main event participants from that night in 1985, Cowboy Bob Orton, Jr. Join us as we explore the first Wrestlemania! THE BUILD UP - MTV was getting into the game as the WWE’s “Rock ‘n Wrestling Connection” put young eyeballs on the federation and made it cool. MTV would be crucial to the build up of WM. THE ANGLE - Piper, Hogan, Cyndi Lauper, Lou Albano, and Mr. T get things rolling and set the stage for a series of angle advancing shows throughout 1984 & 85. THE SHOT - A cab ride from 48th and 8th, 13 minutes work, and Orton, Hogan, Piper and Orndorff go down in history!

It’s 1987 and Jim Crockett Promotions is about to claim ownership of Bill Watts’ legendary territory. With that will come an influx of talent from Watts’ roster. In reality, that purchase was rather unspectacular and nothing interesting was ever made of the acquisition. But through the magic of Guest Booker, we will have Terry Taylor, a booker who has worked creatively for WWE, WCW, and TNA, analyze the purchase and use his talents to try and conjur up a more compelling use of the expanded roster. Taylor was working for UWF at the time of the purchase, but we ask him to switch hats and display the skills and philosophies that made him such a valuable creative force in the eyes of the bosses at pro wrestling’s majors. It is June 1996. Scott Hall and Kevin Nash leave the WWE and prepare to head to the competition. But in our world here, they land NOT in WCW…but rather ECW.
