Emily Youcis is an American animator, artist, and internet personality known for her surreal, dark-themed flash animations on Newgrounds during the 2000s. She gained a cult following with the "Alfred's Playhouse" series (2007), a parody exploring childhood trauma and abuse through the character Alfred Alfer, an anthropomorphic dog, inspired by her own reported experiences of sexual and other abuse as a child. Other notable works include "The Ascent of Alfred" (2016) and her AI generated parodies such as "The Will Stancil Show" (2025)

3.0"Recluse" is a short film I wanted to make as challenge to see if I could tell an effective story without dialogue and complete it in a 30 day time span. It ended up stretching out over the course of many months, mostly because I was getting "When Black Birds Fly" ready for release, but I'm pretty happy with the results! This is also the first film I've animated in 4K. Featuring cameo vocals by Emily Youcis & Rachael Deacon, and additional sound design by M dot Strange!
