In 1913, Czech skiing champion Bohumil Hanč perseveres alone in a fierce snowstorm during a race, collapses from exhaustion and exposure, and is found by his friend Emerich Rath, who risks his own life in a desperate rescue attempt. Tragically, Hanč succumbs to the elements, and shortly after his friend Václav Vrbata, who lent Hanč his coat, also perishes in the blizzard.

After several visits to the most east-bound district of interwar Czechoslovakia, one director and one photographer decided to return to the same places once more this time with a film camera to bring back a message about the calm but original daily life of the local people. With a slightly detached point of view they follow the uneasy life of several individuals who weren’t able to choose their destiny, but who refuse to grumble about it. Transcarpathia is a place where the flow of time has stopped, but it doesn’t really bother anyone.

Tonda Blaník announced his presidential candidacy, promising, for example, butter and lithium for every family or corruption accessible to all, and even collected 100,000 signatures. However, he ultimately did not submit his candidacy for the presidency when his assistant Žížala failed to deliver the signature sheets to the Ministry of the Interior on time. Nevertheless, Tonda Blaník continues in his efforts to save the Czech Republic and show its inhabitants how to live better. The feature film follows on from the successful series Kancelář Blaník.
