An old man there was selling incredible items — a magic mirror, an invisibility cap, a self-setting tablecloth… Among these enchanted objects was a marvelous self-playing flute. A greedy rich man also took a liking to these magical things and, through deceit and trickery, tried to steal them — even throwing the musician into a dungeon. But what the greedy man didn’t know was that clever, enchanted things only bring happiness to a kind heart — and no wisdom at all to a foolish one.

Since childhood, Gulya Korolyova cultivated willpower, the ability to overcome difficulties, and reach her heights. The main test of her short life was the war. In the Battle of Stalingrad, under fire, Gulya carried out wounded soldiers and, being wounded herself, found the strength to lead the detachment on the offensive. She took her fourth height, which became her last.

It is the New Year's Eve and the employees of an Economics Institute are ready with their annual New Year's entertainment program. It includes a lot of dancing and singing, jazz band performance and even magic tricks. Suddenly, an announcement is made that a new director has been elected and that he is arriving shortly.
