The world has changed and the Covid-pandemic has affected everyone. Tommi and Jaana have been together for eight years. Jaana avoids commitment and gradually her actions start to seem suspicious to Tommi. Tommi gets the feeling that all is not well in their relationship and hires private detective Niklas to investigate Jaana's private life. Niklas is an experienced and intense investigator, but his methods are eccentric. Niklas tries to find out everything Jaana does in her life, where she goes and who she meets. At the same time, Tommi struggles with his own suspicions and the question arises whether Jaana could be deceptive in a relationship after all, or whether Tommi is merely building a state of fear in his own mind.

Four stories about Finnish life intersect. In the first one, drum artist Monkki Mähönen arrives for a renovation job at his old band mate's summer villa. Second story revolves around wannabe motorcycle gang and its leader Jouni who are being humiliated at a village shop. Thirdly in the 1960s, a star reporter Erkki "Likasanko" Sysimetsä starts writing a once in a lifetime story about the womanizing of Arvo Hakala, a pipe organ repair man. In the fourth story, a fantasy and sci-fi film director Kurt "Kurre" von Riikonen is looking for financing of his upcoming movie Excalibur IV with catastrophic consequences.

Wanting to know the ways of people, a pelican turns into a gawky young man who soon learns to speak, thanks to his outstanding talent in imitation. He befriends Emil and Elsa, two children who--unlike adults--see that their new neighbor "Mr Berd" is not human but a big bird wearing a suit. The nursing home elderly watch on TV as Uuno tells the show's host his life story.

Soon they have a bus load of candidates and together they start a bus tour in order to find a suitable place for the mass suicide.

The hosts of the television program Oma maa mansikka promise 10 million to anyone who manages to turn the remote village of Taka-Surkee into a popular tourist destination. The challenge is taken up by Arvid and Valtte, two Roma men; Naema-Aslak and Soikiapää, two Sami men who are fond of alcohol; and Vähänen, a former bank clerk who worked at the bank before certain irregularities came to light. Valtteri and Sepe, two ordinary white-collar guys from southern Finland drive up north to implement a plan they've been hatching for months. Because they simply love the taste of lamb, baked "robber-style" in a hole dug under a campfire, they forge their car's number plates and other important documents just to be able to poach sheep grazing on the roadside without getting caught. Lots of man talk around the campfire, aided by lots of booze. The summer may be wet, but the vodka is definitely dry.

In the 1970s, Turku City Theater staged an adaptation of Aleksis Kivi's Seven Brothers, directed by Kalle Holmberg. The premiere was in 1972, and performances continued for three years. The play was the biggest theatrical event of its time and a huge success with audiences. The brothers were played by the stars of the decade, with music by Kaj Chydenius. The TV movie was recorded from two public performances and close-ups were edited in.

Täällä Pohjantähden alla is based on the book with the same title. It is a story of the little village. The movie starts in the 1890's and it ends to the Finnish civil war in 1918. Story concentrates around a tenant farmer family, although it gives us a good look at the society at whole. While the class struggle depends, people of the village are driven to bloody civil war.
