Vidal Rojas, an opponent of the dictatorship of Juan Vicente Gómez, after failing in a subversive attempt and suffering a romantic disappointment, decides to enlist in the revolutionary groups in the interior of the country.

Trino, Nerio, and Alfonso are poor chamber musicians trying to survive by playing wherever they can. During a general's funeral, the musicians try to play funeral music, but the screams of one of them, who thinks he's seen the deceased's hand move, cause such a commotion that the participants run away in terror.

Augusto Cardenas, former guerrilla of bourgeois origin, goes free after four years in prison, he meets with his parents and his wife. He returns to his world and realizes that the fight for his political ideals is only in his memory.

The film tells the story of Ramón Antonio Brizuela, who since childhood has to deal with rampant violence and the drugs, sex and petty thievery of a Caracas slum. Starting with delinquency, Ramón moves on to serious gang activity and robberies. He grows into a tough, self-confident young man who is hardened to violence. His views change when his fiancée's brother is killed in a robbery.

Elisa is treated and poisoned by her envious cousin Irene. Elisa leaves the notice denouncing her murder hidden in a picture frame. Irene marries the widower. Barbara arrives in Caracas with her nanny and enters to serve in the house of Don Luis, who dies. Pablo, the son of the deceased, falls in love with Barbara and ends up, after multiple inconveniences and oppositions, marrying her.
