Boy on Bridge is a feature length documentary that follows the engaging and energetic Alan Doyle as he collaborates with some of his friends and musical heroes. While the project unfolds Alan balances his career with Great Big Sea, navigates through debilitating back problems, and attempts to find a record label home for his new project. This liberating project has allowed Alan to step outside of the comfort zone of his day band and scratch some names off his musical bucket list. The names include icon Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo, indie legend Hawksley Workman, Robin Hood co-star Scott Grimes, Gordie Sampson, legendary television composer Mike Post, and Alans good friend and longtime musical partner, Russell Crowe.

A short documentary about the first real Irish pub in St. John's, Newfoundland that was opened in 1986 by musician Ralph O'Brien and sold in 2012 to Chris Andrews of Shanneyganock and Bob Hallett of Great Big Sea. The film follows the new owners as they are forced to rebuild from scratch after a major flood.

CBC News Newfoundland Labrador's documentary entitled “Trail of the Caribou” traces the journey of the brave men of the Newfoundland Regiment. Created to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Beaumont-Hamel, the movie gives a detailed account of the role the Regiment played in the First World War, putting faces to the story. Since the War, Caribou statutes were constructed in Europe to memorialize the significant places the Newfoundland Regiment fought. Trail of the Caribou transports the viewers to these places to trace the footsteps of the Newfoundland soldiers.

On July 1st, 1916, the Newfoundland Regiment took part in a massive First World War offensive on the Somme, led by the British. At Beaumont Hamel the regiment was nearly wiped out, as only 110 of 780 soldiers survived the day. To commemorate its 100th anniversary, Brian McKenna’s documentary film tells the story of this epic tragedy. Using a technique that brings new meaning to reenactment, McKenna recruits descendants of soldiers who fought this battle, offering them a unique opportunity to relive the experience of their ancestors in trenches built specifically for the film.

Courage & Patience & Grit is a DVD/CD set released by the band Great Big Sea on November 14, 2006. It contains video of the live performance from a concert at the Empire Theatre in Belleville, Ontario along with music videos for the songs "Captain Kidd", "When I Am King", "Lukey", and "Shines Right Through Me". The live performance was recorded during their The Hard and the Easy tour.

Since the first days of Great Big Sea, back in the spring of 1993, the Newfoundland based band has wanted to make a live album. Known across the country for their incendiary and powerful performances, their recent tour provided the perfect opportunity to do so. The result is an unusual live document of a band in love with traveling, their music, and the excitement of standing on stage in front of a crowd.
