A government official decides to steal a $25-million payroll and then fake his own death. However, in the process he is forced to kill an innocent bystander. He moves to a small rural village to start a new life with a new name and his new money, but finds that it's harder to escape his past than he thought it would be.

Mauno, an orphan boy, moves from the countryside to Tampere to live with his foster parents, Iida and Eero, who support him in his music studies. As an adult, Mauno travels to Helsinki to search for Helena, a Karelian girl he rescued during the war, who is studying violin. At first, the girl does not recognize Mauno, but a joint concert changes the situation.

Iris Klewe is brought from her forest cottage by her bank-manager uncle Kaarlo Heinonen to attend school in Helsinki, where his wife and elder children resent the poor foster girl while only the youngest child and the cook show her kindness. Niskavuori's Aarne (Arne från Niskavuori) is a Finnish drama film from 1954. It is based on Hella Wuolijoki's play Niskavuori's Bread. In chronological order of the Niskavuori series, the film is the fourth. Aarne has married Ilona and left the house in Niskavuori, which he hosts, where his former wife Martta still lives, while the old mistress is holding the reins. Aarne and Ilona live in Helsinki, but Aarne has not been able to completely break away from Niskavuori, but keeps secretly in touch with the headmaster and gives instructions on the farm management.

“Tukkijoella” (Log River – 1928). Films of this genre gave the Finnish cinema and the viewing public one of its most popular characters – the lumberjack (tukkijatka, tukkipoika, tukkilainen) who at his most heroic hour becomes the log-roller or the shooter of rapids (koskenlaskija). The significance of this character in Finnish film is comparable to that of the Cowboy on American cinema. He is the pioneer, the wanderer, the adventurer. He negotiates the frontier, he is an embodiment of the conflict between wilderness and civilization.

The Drakenhjelm family has lived in the Rautakylä manor for over 150 years. The current master of the house, elderly baron Magnus, has been living for a long time in an unregistered relationship with his housekeeper Lisette, with whom he also has a son, Sebastian. After the baron falls gravely ill Lisette starts getting worried about losing everything, so with Sebastian on her side she demands the baron to write a letter to the pastor and ask him to come over to perform a wedding ceremony. Right after Sebastian has left to fetch the pastor, a threesome seeking shelter from the storm comes to the manor and wreaks havoc on the marriage plans.

Erkki Karu's comedy The Poet Moves (1927) was completed as a companion piece to the film The Changeling (1927). The homeless poet Eero Keso (Ossi Korhonen) takes up residence with the gentleman Tuisku (Uuno Laakso, Glory Leppänen). In order to get money from his rich uncle Joroinen (Heikki Välisalmi), the poet has written that he has married and had a son, but in reality the money his uncle sent has been spent on the party. The uncle is coming to Helsinki and expects to meet the poet's heir and wife, whom Mrs. Tuisku's scheming sister Liisa (Birgit Sergelius) promises to introduce.

Silent military propaganda film by Erkki Karu, later followed by the musical revue film Meidän poikamme merellä ("Our Boys at Sea", 1933) and Meidän poikamme ilmassa – me maassa ("Our Boys in the Air – and We on Land", 1934), both of them also directed by Karu. The film comes with a orchestral accompaniment arranged by Raine Ampuja in 2005, based on the original score by Lauri Näre and Emil Kauppi, which in turn was based on traditional Finnish military tunes.
