The naive 18 year old Dobrila leaves her little Serbian village to travel to Hamburg, Germany, where her boyfriend lives. The trip is not easy. Finally in Hamburg she has to realize her boyfriend is not very interested in a relationship. She doesn't tell him she's pregnant and starts on her way home to Serbia, which turns out to be even more exhausting.

A TV journalist making a documentary in a factory finds out that the workers have been on strike and tries to analyze the strike in his film, but is thwarted by the TV company. His failure at his job is interwoven with his failed marriage.

Milan, a successful company director, is replaced, and he decides to find out why.

The infant mortality rate in the maternity ward of a hospital increases suspiciously - allegedly due to an unknown pulmonary disease. When Doctor Barbara decides to inform the public of this tragic phenomenon, a number of the doctors, including the hospital management, try to prevent her.

Working class of a small town near Ljubljana hope that the authorities will choose their town to build a new factory there, which proves to be wrong. The film is a critical observation of the lack of prospect of young people who live in the province.
