Paul Gabriel was born in the USA but raised in the Philippines. Paul plans to return to America after his college graduation. But before he could graduate, he must pass one subject where his professor demands that he answer the question, "What's wrong with the Filipino?" Paul's effort to answer the question forces him to reflect on the question of Filipino identity.

It is about a group of investigative journalists from a sub-par TV station who accidentally scores a scoop that a 21-year-old boy is looking around for his identity… he claims to be the son of the late director Lino Brocka, a known gay filmmaker.

When Mario invites his Internet pen pal all the way from Spain to his home in the Philippines to meet his family, his mother and father assume “Alexis” is a girl. But when Alexis turns out to be a man, it completely changes the family dynamic. While Mario’s mother refuses to admit her son is gay, his father’s reaction is even more surprising.
