However, after the show's second season, Tien went bankrupt and Gooische Vrouwen was transferred to RTL4, where it ran for three more seasons until its finale in 2009. After its 42-episode run the show was followed by a theatrically released feature film in 2011. The show chronicles the everyday lives of four female friends living in het Gooi. Gooische Vrouwen has since been sold to Germany, Belgium, France and Serbia.

Anton and Els van Dijk have a hair salon in Hilversum. Their daughters Ietje (20) and Eef (18) are asked by Anton's brother, broadcasting director Peter van Dijk, to audition for a television presenter position. While this opens up an exciting new world for one daughter, it marks the beginning of a period of personal tragedy and radical change for the other. There are 250,000 television connections, and Peter wants to celebrate this in style. It is also an opportunity to rectify mistakes made in the past.
