Berlin in the golden 20s. Like no other, the singer and cabaret artist Claire Waldoff found the right words for what the so-called “little people“ thought and felt. Her heartfelt songs with heart and snout triggered storms of enthusiasm and made Claire Waldoff famous. Kurt Tucholsky gave her the nickname "Sparrow of Berlin". With the beginning of the 1930s and the Nazi regime in Germany, the popularity of the Berlin original declined.

During building work in the city of Baden-Baden in 2015, an evil troll who was transformed into stone in the 15th century, is accidentally brought back to life. To prevent being unmasked, the Troll slips into the body of Vanessa and enslaves her. Vanessa Troll then goes looking for Charlie, the virgin boyfriend of Vanessa's daughter, as The Troll needs his blood to evoke a portal to a magical prison. Will the Troll's plans find success?

At the beginning of the 50s, two extremely disparate men meet in a private sanatorium for consumptives: an officer in the People's Police, Josef Heiliger; and a young Protestant curate, Hubertus Koschenz. On account of their consumption, they have to share a room. Initially, this is the only thing they have in common. The film explores Hubertus's struggle with his sexuality within the context of both the church and the socialist state.

By the time Andreas arrives, he finds Viviane unfaithful with her study lover Stefan Korten, but is interested by Toni's daughter. Second daughter Susi and her fellow arts student fiancé Bruno Tomasi have several announcements. Mother arrives stating she decided to sell the Cologne home instead, but Robert offers an alternative. During their tour, Werner Träsch and his colleagues Ralle Schieber and Tarik Büyüktürk arrive at a housing estate where the businessman Waselitzki draws their attention to graffiti. Waselitzki plans to rent out the apartments in order to then rent them out again at a higher price. Träsch and his colleagues want to prevent this with all their might.

An alien from the planet Antoria lands on Earth and is promptly assaulted by the porn producer Gerhard Hornbacher, who steals his "form changer". Hornbacher sees this as a way to make money and founds the spiritual TV channel "Teleportal", where he offers people the opportunity to flee to Antoria to escape the impending destruction of the Earth, for a price of course.

High-school senior Peter considers the adults around him to be hypocritical, self-congratulatory, and immersed in the past. He gets suspended for writing an essay that his teachers consider to be a challenge to the state. Just Don't Think I'll Cry became one of twelve films and film projects-almost an entire year's production-that were banned in 1965-1966 due to their alleged anti-socialist aspects. Although scenes and dialogs were altered and the end was reshot twice, officials condemned this title as "particularly harmful." In 1989, cinematographer Ost restored the original version, and this and most of the other banned films were finally screened in January 1990. Belatedly, they were acclaimed as masterpieces of critical realism.
