Flo Nordhoff

Animated film featuring three animal-like creatures.

Widower Paul always delayed talking to his daughter about sex. But when workers on a nearby construction site are falling down their scaffold because 16 years old "Herzblatt" is tanning naked, he feels he has to take action. In the hope she'll learn herself what consequences the difference between boys and girls has, he tries to get her a boyfriend.

A comedy directed by Franz Marischka.

An impressionist-anchored, pop art-driven, surrealist animation about war fears, industrial overdevelopment, and many other civilisational neuroses. A colourful counterpart to Clay & Nordhoff’s probably earlier Hands Up Mr. Rasnichi, which was seemingly little shown and is not even mentioned in any of their currently consultable filmographies. A true discovery.

A cautionary tale about the myriad shades and shapes of totalitarianism in an irreverent, surreal 1960s mix of styles featuring acerbic Austrian cabaret icon Helmut Qualtinger speaking in tongues. An exemplary, at the time widely lauded work of West German animation.
