Young songwriter Julika Stetten feels burned out. Listless and unmotivated, she nevertheless feels compelled to meet the deadlines for the project she is currently working on. In search of a place that offers her the peace and quiet she so desperately needs to complete her work, she remembers her father's country house. He had bought the house near Lake Chiemsee at auction over 20 years ago. It had been uninhabited ever since. Fascinated, she listens to the stories of the caretaker Georg as she takes possession of the house. She is determined to stay in this very place and continue her work.

2021. When 22-year-old Vitaly leaves his mother Tetyana and his beloved sister Eugenia behind in Ukraine, he dreams of starting a new life in Munich, Germany. Struggling to find where he belongs in a foreign country, he eventually joins a student theater group. Everything changes with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as Eugenia and Tetyana are forced to flee. Overnight, two harsh realities land on Vitaly’s doorstep: the global political situation and his own family conflicts.

Sisters Eugenia and Nastya are warmly welcomed in Munich after fleeing Ukraine. While Nastya tries to enjoy her new life, Eugenia struggles to adjust while there's war at home and worries that Nastya is becoming a stranger to her.
