A young refugee of the Sudanese Civil War who wins a lottery for relocation to the United States with three other lost boys. Encountering the modern world for the first time, they develop an unlikely friendship with a brash American woman assigned to help them, but the young man struggles to adjust to this new life and his feelings of guilt about the brother he left behind.

Cairo, 2011. A police officer investigates the murder of a woman in a luxurious hotel in the days leading up to the Egyptian revolution.

In a story inspired by real events, Annisa, a young South Sudanese midwife, finds herself in a race against time to save the life of a young mother (Agnes) who has suffered postpartum haemorrhage. With conventional methods not seeming to work and no resources, Annisa must use her own resources and training to save Agnes from the same fate that befell her own mother ten years earlier.

Emeryka loses control of her life through the intrigue of a mysterious character named The Something and is led to an adventurous escape to a female sect, for which she has to leave her daughter behind. It is a story about the right to choose how each person defines themselves in terms of gender and sexuality.
