The seasoned Captain Mitsos Avgoustis stubbornly refuses to retire. The ocean swell has lodged itself in his mind, and the sea simply will not give him back. For twelve years he has been away from Greece—estranged from his family, at odds with the shipping company, yet bound by unshakable ties to the 22 sailors aboard the cargo ship ATHOS III. Defiant and unwilling to obey, he somehow keeps finding cargo, calling at ports, loading and unloading, silently roaming the waters of the Pacific. Day and night, he battles the relentless gales on the lonely voyages of his mind and heart, where the secret he carries has long since dropped anchor.

Almost 10 years after the Arab spring, the young Egyptian archaeologist Maysoon is living in Berlin with her German boyfriend Tobi and their two children. When she experiences some turbulences in her personal life and an unexpected threat to her political status, Maysoon fears that she may lose everything once again: family, love, and freedom. Maysoon fights for her independence as a woman and as a citizen, fueled by love and idealism.

It is the early 20th century on a dystopian Greek island. Hadoula, a widow who lost her husband, loannis Fragkos, at a young age, is a woman who has learned how to survive in a male-dominated and extremely patriarchal society. The victims of her outburst are the little girls of the island, whom she sets free from the social and economic burden that their existence entails by taking their lives. Her actions will bring her face to face with the law. She leaves her home and escapes to her refuge, nature. But as much as her faith and morals dictate that she did the right thing, her trans-generational trauma follows her everywhere. And the end comes as redemption.

The performance is over, the actors step off the stage, the audience leaves the theater. However,in this case, the end marks the beginning. Eleven spectators star in their own tales, intertwined in a collage crafted by life itself. Restaurant and movie theater owners, immigrants and tourists, regulars and passers-by interact with the urban entourage and the people they come across, weaving a mosaic of endless possibilities.

The story is a contemporary version of the ancient Greek myth of Electra. Electra is a young girl foreigner in her own land, as well as in other lands. The only place she could seek her identity is her own private world that she tries to create. From Africa to Europe, the film is a puzzle composed by pieces of her broken identity. Electra's very journey is finally her own land.
