Klári, the dancer of the ice revue, is pursued by a mysterious admirer and his roses. Her husband, Rezső, is about to lose his wits with jealousy.

The main characters of this satiric story poking fun at domestic labour ethic are two cleaners of the mains. Jeromos and his son drop in to doctor Katona's in order to clean the shit pit decorating the end of the garden. During the day work is being done in a very time consuming way, materials are missing, and the boss devotes more attention to his love affairs than to supervision.

In this caricature-like film an old film director offers his memories of his career to his former student, now a studio manager, as an idea for a new film. We can see the director in Berlin in the twenties, where his task is to make a film star of Hungarian origin cry out of homesickness.

Marching through the snowfields of Ukraine, the Writer is already haunted by visions. His famous characters in his novels, Jimmy Fülig, Ivan Gorchev, Sir Yolland, Marshal Podvinecz and others, appear in his visions, blurring reality. The heroes of the novel do not deny themselves here either, and try to counterbalance the terrible reality of everyday life with wry, grotesque humour...
