Broadway director Julian Marsh needs just one more hit show so he can retire and recover his health. It looks like he just may pull it off until temperamental star Dorthy Brock breaks her ankle on the eve of the show's premiere and has to be replaced by her understudy Peggy.

When all Broadway shows are shut down during the Depression, a trio of desperate showgirls scheme to bilk a repugnant high society man of his money to keep their show going.

"Red" Davison(Buck Jones), the sheriff of Sun Dog, sacrifices his job and his good name to save his best friend, "Silent" Slade from the hangman's noose, following a framed-up court decision which sentences Slade to hang for the murder of "Scotty McKee (J.P. McGowan). Davidson allows Slade to escape from jail and follows him to aid him in proving his innocence.

In Fox's contribution to the all-star revue cycle of early talkies, showboat singer Margie, hearing that the show is in arrears, goes to New York to gather all of the former stars to stage a minstrel show as a benefit.

Vivienne Ware is defended by her ex-beau when she's accused of killing her faithless fiance.

A gambler in need of cash plots a romance between his daughter and a wealthy Englishman. The daughter, however, has plans of her own.

Charles Cook, a husband with a multi-year itch, decides he will go out and whoop it up with the boys, but tells his wife it is a business meeting. His helpful friend Jack Scott introduces him to a very pretty--and shapely--Miss Scott, whose stock-in-trade is understanding misunderstood husbands, and she is very good at it. Charles enjoys being one of the boys and schedules more business meetings. Meanwhile, his wife Alice is at home wishing her husband didn't have to go to so many business meetings.

Two women on a beach vacation, one a wisecracker and the other "the straight woman," hilariously comment on anything and everything going on around them.
