A diminutive twentysomething 'Soso' (a nickname given to him by his mother) leads a group of revolutionaries in a massive bank heist to rob the Imperial Bank in 1907 Tbilisi. In the process, Soso becomes the man known as Joseph Stalin.

On the last evening before her departure, Vera is putting her small sister to bed. To hide the real reason for her leaving, she tells her a bedtime fairy tale instead. It’s the story of a city swallowed by an eternal night, where little by little everyone, adapting to the darkness, starts turning into owls. As the tale unfolds, it becomes clear that Vera, too, is part of the story.

In a post-soviet republic of Georgia, in South Caucasus where religious and folk traditions are still the main authority, new generation of pro-western youth tries to build their own future. The protest of 10 000 young Tbilisi citizens turns into 2 day massive rave at the Parliament of Georgia.

The end of the Soviet empire. The General Secretary lies in the government clinic. He is old and frail, but has a tight grip on power. "The power is only taken, it is never given away," he repeats. And it is convenient for both the elites and the secret services -- while the "body" is alive, various groups are scoring their political points. The General Secretary is "sentenced to life". A young nurse Sasha looks after him. Small, fragile and invisible, she bears a heavy burden of responsibility for the life of the country's top official. Meanwhile, the old man is waging a war in Afghanistan, has a nuclear button and can take the entire world to the grave with him.

Everything that happens could have happened differently. And that's the beauty of life. This is what the film is about. This is a story in which a series of absurd, random events leads the heroine to a romantic meeting. Or not?

Sirens drone over the city, announcing a state of emergency involving “disturbance of the electromagnetic field”, while individuals clandestinely fiddle with soldered bits of leftover technology. The cyberpunk mode of dystopian science fiction did not end in the 1990s; thanks to the pandemic and other crises, it’s back – with a vengeance. Alexandra Karelina’s film, superbly shot by Egor Protsko, treats this genre in an experimental way, flashing cryptic images and offering bottomless scenarios of social breakdown.

Alexey and Kristina are ending their marriage here, while Dimon and Lenya are raising hell and pushing Goa to its partying limits. Kosmos the Guru ("just don't call him that") dispenses the chemicals that in a bat of an eyelid will take you to an alternate reality. There are different destinies here. There are a myriad of people. But all of them have one Motherland, which is easy not to love as long it is close to you

Cherkessk Odyssey has begun.

The demonstrators on the streets of Moscow in July 2019 want just one thing: fair elections. Despite their peaceful protest, 2,700 activists are arrested and hundreds are injured. The active camera places the viewer at the heart of the demonstrations, among the pushing and shoving of the chanting crowds. “You should be protecting us!” shouts a young woman at a soldier, and two big men come and take her away.
