After taking out the chairman of the Tajima-kai—a subgroup of Kansai's largest syndicate, the Yamagami-gumi—to settle a turf dispute, Ryu Yamanaka (Koji Matoba) returns to the Miura family after a long prison sentence. But everything has changed. The weakened Miura clan, with their leader Miura (Eiichiro Funakoshi) bedridden from illness, has had their territory encroached upon by the now-allied Tajima-kai. As rumors of succession stir with Ryu's return, Tajima and Yamagami's underhanded schemes begin to surface. Holding to the old ways, Ryu quietly waits, believing "everything will be decided by the boss." But when the hidden forces behind the past conflict are exposed, the one-eyed yakuza rises once more!

Set during Japan's Shogun era, this film looks at life in a samurai compound where young warriors are trained in swordfighting. A number of interpersonal conflicts are brewing in the training room, all centering on a handsome young samurai named Sozaburo Kano. The school's stern master can choose to intervene, or to let Kano decide his own path.

Reiji Kikukawa, who has a strong sense of justice, graduated from the police academy with the lowest score ever. He becomes a police constable, but is suddenly fired by the Police Chief due to "disciplinary" issues. In actuality, the firing is part of a carefully orchestrated plan to set him up as an undercover cop in the Yakuza.

In 1943, as Japan's WWII effort falters, a vice-admiral proposes training squadrons of "volunteer" flyers to crash their armed planes into Allied warships. Yarn follows the lives of kamikaze pilots, as remembered by an aging Kyushu restaurateur who cherishes their memory. Honoring the dead and multiple military anthems may stir the soul of some Japanese, but elsewhere auds will make a one-way trip for exits. Battle scenes are well-executed and script delivers some memorable scenes, but overall competent helming and thesping are powerless over writer-cum-Tokyo governor Shintaro Ishiara's repetitive storytelling. A post-war postscript adds considerable length to an already over-extended narrative. Tech credits are good quality.

An accident during tests of an anti-plasma artificial magnetic shield at Japan's Ground Self Defense Force East Fuji practice range sends the 3rd Special Experimental Company, under Colonel Matoba on a time-slip 460 years into the past, into 'the Age of civil War'. New graduates Ohara, Kitamachi and Tachikawa take part in the battle of job-hunting, so as big companies recruiting talents and potentials. Interviews, tests and activities with odd ideas are carried out. Ohara looks successful in getting an offer from a famous TV station but he is surprised to know he is being set up. With his intelligence, he soon gets the offer, but things never go the way as expected...
