Two contractors are hired to dig up a treasure for their employer. Things go wrong when the treasure accidentally ends up in the hands of three small time crooks, Babis, Jimmy and Spooky, who ran into them while committing a robbery to pay off a debt to Munir, a local crime lord. The three friends use their connection with an underground informer to trade the treasure for cash. What they don't know is that they're being pursued by the contractors and Munir's thugs.

With Greece about to join the EEC, the folks in a village are split: the right-wing president, Nomass, is an ardent supporter of accession, the left-wing secretary Leonidas is categorically opposed, and the socialist Michalis has some doubts. In addition to their common concerns, they are also preoccupied with the charms of the voluptuous and provocative widow Margarita. At the Presidential Mansion news arrives every day indicating that things in the country are going from bad to worse. The President summons all the political leaders in order to understand exactly what is happening; and yet no one can enlighten him. He decides to act. He calls two journalists and assigns them the task of investigating the matter by speaking directly with ordinary people. The investigation starts with the notorious Gypsy Tamtakos, who struggles every day for a living. Then they move on to a simple employee, Markos, who dreams of a raise -which never comes. Then it's a farmer, Thymios, who comes to the capital to sell his oranges. In a largely burlesque manner, the film more or less reveals that the entire misfortune is due to Greeks' laziness and apathy, as well as to the prevailing attitude of "no big deal".

A bunch of restless teenagers are constantly trying to find ways to break free from poverty. All day they hang around discos and cafeterias and talking about motorcycles, women, society, etc. Only a few of them have jobs while some others are students. One day they decide to rob a wealthy man since this seems to be their last chance to get their hands on a decent amount of cash. Everything goes fine until they come across another bunch of punks and start fightibg in the streets. All of them get busted and that's when the nightmare starts... They are taken to the prison of Korydalos where they are constantly beaten and tortured by a sadistic warden who calls himself "God" (played by the ultimate god, Nikos Tsachiridis who seems to enjoy this kind of role...). The film goes on showing the filth that they face.
