Centimeter is an upcoming sci-fi comedy drama movie directed, produced, and cinematographed by Santhosh Sivan. Gokulam Goplan bankrolled this movie under his home banner Sree Gokulam Movies. Manju Warrier and Kalidas Jayaram are playing the lead roles and share screen space with Yogi Babu, Nedumudu Venu, Aju Varghese, Indrans, Basil Joseph, and Shaylee Krishen as important characters.

Nandagopan (Mohanlal) is a respected dance teacher at the Kerala Kala Mandiram (alluding to the famed Kerala Kalamandalam repertory which performs Kerala's temple arts). However, his wife Sumangala (Parvathi) commits suicide, causing him to turn into an alcoholic and a compulsive rule breaker. He is suspected of having killed his wife and is suspended from his job for drunken misbehaviour. The new secretary of the institute Velayudhan (Nedumudi Venu) wants him to be sacked but his former reputation gives him a reprieve. He trains the talented student Malavika (Monisha) to perform in his ambitious composition of the Sita Kalyanam, but her jealous young lover Soman (Vineeth) poisons him.

Appu (Nedumudi) is struggling to make ends meet while doing odd jobs and trying to find a more stable job. In the meanwhile he meets Amminikutty (Madhavi) with whom he falls in love. He however lies to her and makes her believe that he has a well paying government job. In the meanwhile Amminikutty's cousin, Das (Mammotty) arrives in town to further complicate Appu's plans.

Sreekrishnan unknowingly falls in love with the woman his best friend, Manikyan, loves. Though Sreekrishnan tries his best to woo her, she resists, leading to a battle that ensues between the friends.

Krishnamurthy is appointed by a real estate company to vacate Vietnam Colony, a place buzzing with illegal and antisocial elements.

Padmanabhan Embranthiri (Nedumudi Venu) is running an institution viz. 'Kalanikethan' . He is invited to perform the Kerala art forms on the stage of a cultural festival named Keralotsavam 2009. His daughter Ganga (Vishnu Priya) was doing research in Mohiniyattam. So she was entrusted in doing all the arrangements of the programme. Sandeep Subramanyam (Vinu Mohan) arrives there to perform Kalaripayattu. There he meets Ganga and falls in love. But he is a terrorist named Javed Ibrahim in disguise and his mission is to blast a bomb during the Keralotsavam event. The terrorist group aims to destroy the communal harmony and evoke a riot. Whether or not Sandeep aka Javed succeeds in the mission forms the climax of the movie.

A few political goons, disguised as Muslims, cause trouble at the temple and kill Raghuraman's family. Later, Raghuraman joins an extremist group and decides to avenge his family's death.

The film is a socio-centric story of education system that existed in the period 80's - 90's in Kerala. Divakaran, in search of a good job acquires fake certificates from Mysore TTC and becomes a teacher in a government aided lower primary school run by a corrupt manager.
