Otakar Vávra dedicated his latest film to events accompanying the devastation of the first World War. It takes place in representative centers of power, in the courts of Vienna, Berlin and Moscow. In parallel, it develops the fate of the Czech archivist, who will take part in the Serbian anti-Austrian branch.

The story of the film is based on the classical tale about seven naughty sons, whom their mother cursed in anger and thus turned into ravens. When their youngest sister grew up, she decides to find her brothers and to free them. However, she falls in love with a young Prince.

Approaches to important life values can vary: while the top athlete who has made it in cycling tries to monetise his talent, his brother cannot devote himself to his beloved sculpture because of his disabled arm and seeks alternative self-fulfilment. Moreover, the two are united - and at the same time divided - by a love affair with the same woman.

Michail Forman, a successful business manager, gets stuck in a traffic jam. The weather is lousy, his car breaks down and he forgot to buy a present for his 5th wedding anniversary. He jumps out of his car and finds some shelter in the entrance of a shopping mall. Attracted by a little girl he enters the mall, but once he's in, time and reality are no longer something to rely on.

About the fact that honesty will get you the furthest... The main characters of the fairy tale are two tinkers, a now extinct profession in which men travel the countryside and repair earthenware pots for peasants and the like. The older of them, Jura, tries to earn some extra money in all sorts of ways other than honest work, while the younger Martin is an honest man from the bone and a hard worker to behold. We also meet poor Vojta, who catches birds, the beautiful and rich Eliška and robbers, but most importantly we understand that honesty will get you the furthest in life.

In a South Moravian wine-growing village in the early 1970s lives an old man who cannot accept the attitude of the younger generation towards nature and agriculture. Director Hynek Bočan made a number of films based on Jan Kostrhun's drafts, mostly set in the South Moravian environment (including The Face Behind the Glass), but the portraits were very flat. Relationships between people were often depicted in predictable schemes. The hero this time is an old villager who is struggling to cope with the changes in his attitude to nature and to agricultural work in general. He sees his only hope in his grandson, to whom he tries to pass on his life experience.

On the spare stage of J. Svoboda, director M. Macháček focuses on exploring the relationships between the characters and their motivations. In this version, the story is gradually revealed like a detective story, from the ghost’s message through the play-within-a-play to the murderous finale. Though not originally received well, the production became a Prague theatre hit before closing in 1988.

In the wintry Baltics, a century is drawing to a close and with it the era of the old Junker aristocracy. Pastor Erwin Wenger falls in love with the beautiful Baroness von Werland. This love plunges him into serious conflicts of conscience, especially as he does not appear to be the young woman's only admirer. And it is not only the baron's health and the old castle that increasingly deteriorate, but the man of God's moral stability also begins to waver ...

When three wandering musicians met the Lord of the Forest, they hardly thought of what good it would do them. They certainly began to prosper from that time on. They obtained peas, which made them invisible, and a flask of water, which canceled the spell of invisibility. Before long, they were lucky enough to put these gifts to good use. A handsome young shepherd stumbles across a magical golden fern in the forest. A stunning, enigmatic forest fairy named Lesanka is sent to retrieve it but instead falls hopelessly in love with him. When he’s forced to join the army and heads off to war, she sews a seed from the fern into his shirt to protect him. While he’s away, though, he falls for the icily beautiful daughter of the commanding general who demands he perform a series of Herculean tasks to prove his devotion to her.

Greek mythology has always inspired creators of various artistic genres. No wonder, for Greek myths offer countless dramatic tales of strength, courage and bravery, of fear and hatred, but also of love. The poet Kamil Bednář has retold one of the most beautiful mythical stories, O Amor and Psyche, in which love plays a major role. His fairy tale about Princess Soul served as a model for a television production directed by S. Simonová.

Fifty-year-old Ondřej Bozděch delivers coal around Prague's Žižkov district and he loves it more than anything. He has spent his whole life here and knows all the cellars. He lives his ordinary life among the Žižkov tenement houses, enjoying the joys and sorrows of his teenage daughter Markéta and his restless son Ondra. His best friend is his driver Karel, a former mathematician who once had to leave his job at a research institute for political reasons. Although Karel is an engineer and a completely different person than the straightforward Ondrej, he has become almost a member of the Bozděch family over time. But times are changing. The old houses of Žižkov disappear one by one, Markéta has to get married and Karel is offered to return to his original profession. Ondřej has to stop and think about what kind of life he is living...
