Margaret Glover

A short film on the subject of an Arsenal fan's protest and based on an original short story by Fever Pitch author Nick Hornby, starring John Sessions, Saskia Reeves, Gary Lineker and Leslie Grantham. Shown on BBC2's football themed 'Fan Night', hosted by Mark and Lard, on Saturday 9th May 1998

A mysterious young loner changes the lives of one family and helps them rediscover their roots and deep affection for one another.

When As’ad, a 12-year-old rubbish picker, adopts an American sex doll from the Baghdad dumps, he crosses into a perilous red zone, finding himself caught in the crossfire between abusive forces of commercialism and fundamentalism in a world where defenders of humanism have lost their power. He embraces the courage it takes to not just survive, but live.

April 1974 saw the fall of a long lasting dictatorship. The young democracy developed in the midst of much social and political turmoil. The armed wing of a leftist group changed the future of one family - the father disappears without trace, the mother denies their past, and the son grows up with unanswered questions. As a young man, Pedro is determined to reach for answers, aided by his apparently batty grandmother. Collecting clues and meeting people who would rather prefer to remain forgotten. His inner journey leads him Portugal to Spanish through the deserted roads of Alentejo. Pedro will find himself, but there is a price to pay.
